GODSHOT The Future Urban Coffee Klub – Berlin

Aktualisiert: 12. Sept.

Berlin has no shortage of cafés, but few combine history, craft, and personality quite like Godshot – The Future Urban Coffee Klub in Prenzlauer Berg. For more than 15 years, owner Kai-Uwe Beyer has shaped this space into one of the city’s true coffee destinations, complete with a training lab for barista courses and a reputation that stretches well beyond Berlin.

For us, Godshot is personal: Nils spent three years behind the bar here, while Philip was the kind of regular who never had to order twice. It’s the place where our love for coffee culture moved from obsession to passion – and where we return whenever we’re in Berlin.

Coffee & Beans

Godshot’s espresso menu starts with the Classic House Blend – a 70/30 mix of Arabica and Robusta. It’s a deliberate nod to Italian tradition: low acidity, full body, and a crema that lingers. In milk drinks, it’s near perfect – balanced, comforting, and endlessly reliable.

Alongside it, there’s always a 100% Arabica specialty option, often roasted by Phoenix (Dresden) or Backyard (Frankfurt). These single-origin profiles bring more acidity and fruit notes, but never tip into sharpness – a thoughtful rotation that keeps regulars engaged.

Decaf drinkers aren’t forgotten either, with a quality decaf espresso also sourced from Backyard.

The Craft

What makes Godshot stand out isn’t just the beans – it’s the level of execution. Every barista undergoes months of training before stepping on bar. The result is consistency that few cafés can match: dosing, extraction, milk texture, and presentation are all handled with meticulous care.

The machine itself deserves a mention: a Kees Van der Westen SlimJim Idrocompresso, one of the few in Berlin. It’s a statement piece as much as a workhorse – precision engineering in service of perfect espresso.

Atmosphere

Godshot’s interior strikes a different note from the slick, minimal cafés scattered across the city. Think vintage furniture, warm lighting, and a cozy, lived-in vibe. It’s relaxed without being sloppy, the kind of place where conversations stretch and time slows down.

It feels less like a stage and more like a home – fitting, since for years, that’s exactly what it was for us.

Service & Value

Hospitality here is rooted in expertise. The staff aren’t just friendly – they’re encyclopedic. Want to talk processing methods? They’ll break it down. Curious about flavor notes? They’ll guide you without pretension.

Prices are fair within the Berlin specialty scene, especially when measured against the level of craft, quality, and training behind each cup.

Our Verdict

Godshot isn’t just a café; it’s a benchmark. For Berlin locals, it’s a daily ritual. For visitors, it’s a destination worth crossing the city for. For us, it’s the place that shaped our coffee journey.

Final Score: 8.6/10 – Excellent, highly recommended.
